Hard Times is a three piece traditional acoustic band based in and around Lancaster in the North West of England. The band features a wide and varied repertoire which includes music and song from Britain, Ireland, America and other sources.
The band play a variety of instruments eg; Guitar, Banjo
(5 string and Tenor), Mandolin, Fiddle, Flute, Whistle and Bass all to an extremely high level of competence.
Hard Times is often mistaken for an “Irish” band. This is not the case although we do have a big Irish set and are quite happy to
perform to an audience who want to listen to the “old fovourites”.
We cover a wide spectrum of traditional and contemporary music and a few bits and pieces which don’t really fall into either category but everything is played at a level unsurpassed by most other bands.
We play pubs, clubs, festivals and folk clubs and also
function as a ceili band more of which in the following pages.
